recognizes the special talents and gifts that each and every dancer has to offer. To give all performers the opportunity to shine and to compete in a positive atmosphere, we offer two levels of competition.

Shooting Star Division gives the dancer who has limited competition experience and takes no more than 3 hours of classes a week, a chance to perform, receive judges' critique tapes, and experience the excitement of competition.
NEW! Shooting Star entries may not contain any dancers who compete in the All Star Division
Each entry in this level is eligible for the Shooting Star Division High Score Awards.
Dances in this level are not eligible for the Ultimate Awards or cash prizes. Soloists may not compete for title.
All Star Division is open to all competitors. Any dancer with extensive competition experience, or who takes more than 3 hours of classes a week, must enter this level.
Each performer in this level is eligible for All Star Division High Score Awards, Ultimate Awards, and cash prizes.

Acro: Routine containing acrobatic and gymnastic moves. Choreography must also contain 50% dance technique.
Ballet: Routine consisting of classical ballet movement and technique.
Baton: Routine using baton(s).
Character: Dancers must portray an easily recognizable character.
Hip Hop: Routine consisting of mostly hip hop or street style moves.
Jazz: Routine consisting of primarily jazz technique.
Pointe: Routine containing pointe technique.
Lyrical: Routine where dancers interpret the lyrics of a song.
NEW! Modern/Contemporary: Interpretive routine combining lyrical and jazz technique.

Musical Theatre
: Routine choreographed to a song from a Broadway or movie musical.
Open: Routine consisting of more than one style of dance or that does not fit into any other category.
Tap: Routine consisting of tap technique. No pre-recorded tap sounds are allowed on music.
Song and Dance: Routine consisting of singing and any style of dance. Music may only have back-up voices.
NEW! Student Choreography: Routine must be entirely choreographed by students, with no teacher assistance.
Vocal
: Any type of vocal performance. Accompaniment may only be on CD or tape and may have only back-up voices.
Modeling: T-Style presentation demonstrating modeling technique.
Production: Routine consisting of any style, or styles, of dance with a minimum of 20 performers and a time limit of 5-8 minutes.

Only 2 acrobatic tricks are permitted in any dance category except Acro, Open, and Production.
Soloists may not compete against themselves in the same performance category.
Please be sure that choreography and lyrics are appropriate for family viewing.

Every performance will be critiqued according to the dancer's age and ability by a panel of 3 judges, each one using a 100 point scale.
Each judge will consider Technique, Execution, Choreography, Showmanship, and Overall Effect.
Each judge will make an individual critique tape for every entry.
Tapes and scores will be given to studio directors at the end of the competition.
All judges' decisions are final.
Each soloist, duet/trio, and group will receive a Platinum, High Gold, Gold, High Silver, Silver, or Bronze Award.

300.0-285 - Platinum
284.9-270 - High Gold
269.9-255 - Gold
254.9-240 - High Silver
239.9-225 - Silver
224.9-210 - Bronze

Each solo, duet/trio and group entry will receive a trophy and each dancer will receive an award ribbon.
The high scoring entry in each age and performance category will also receive a first place award.

High Score Awards will be given in both the Shooting Star and All Star Divisions.

These two divisions never compete against each other.
You must compete on the assigned day and time to be eligible for High Score Awards.
All solos, duets, trios, small groups, large groups, lines, and productions are automatically eligible for High Score Awards.
Soloists, duets, and trios with identical members may only place once.
First, second, and third place High Score Awards are given in each age division: Mini 4-6, Petite 7-9, Junior 10-12, Teen 13-15, Senior 16-20.
Divisions may be combined if there are fewer than 5 entries in any age division.

Cash awards will be given to the first place High Score Award winners in the All Star Division.

All cash prizes will be awarded to the studio director.

If there are fewer than 5 routines, gift certificates may be given instead of cash awards.


At each competition, the highest scoring group, line or production in the All Star Division receives the STELLAR AWARD.

Ultimate Awards will be given in the All Star Division. A plaque will be given in the 12 and under and 13 and over age divisions.
Ultimate Technique Award is given to the group or line with the highest technique and execution score.
Ultimate Choreography Award is presented to the teacher of a group or line with the most creative and original choreography.
Ultimate Crowd Pleaser Award is given to the group or line chosen as most entertaining.
Special Awards will also be given at each awards ceremony at the discretion of the judges and competition directors.
Costume Award is free of charge and is given to the performers whose costumes are chosen as the most creative and which best complement their routines.
Photogenic Award is given to the solo contestant who is judged most photogenic. Contestant should submit a 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 color or black and white photo with name, age, and studio name on the back. Photos should be dropped off at the registration table and will be returned in teacher's bag at the end of the competition.

will be selecting regional title winners in the following solo divisions:

  • Mini Miss All Star and Mini Mr. All Star - Ages 4 - 6
  • Petite Miss All Star and Petite Mr. All Star - Ages 7 - 9
  • Junior Miss All Star and Junior Mr. All Star - Ages 10 -12
  • Teen Miss All Star and Teen Mr. All Star - Ages -13 -15
  • Senior Miss All Star and Senior Mr. All Star - Ages 16 - 20
Title will be judged during the solo portion of the competition.
Winners will receive a trophy, crown, and a $100 cash award.
Title contestants are also eligible for High Score Awards.
Gift certificates may be substituted if there are fewer than 5 entries.

Please list all ages as of the first day of the competition.
Age divisions are 6 and under, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 and over. Age groups may be combined at the discretion of the competition directors.
Please enter duets, trios, and groups by their average age. Do not round up.
If a group includes a dancer who is 18 years old or older, and the average age of the group is 12 or under, that group must compete in the 13 year old age division.
Be sure to include birth dates for every contestant.
NEW! Not more than 50% of a duet/trio or group may be the same in any age and performance category.
Studio directors must be prepared to present birth certificates should a protest arise.
Any protest must be made in writing to the competition directors within 30 minutes

Production 5 to 8 minutes

Props are allowed in all performance categories; however, they must be set up and removed within 2 minutes.
No dangerous props may be used. This includes knives, swords, fire, etc.

All Music must be provided on CD or cassette tape. Only one song per CD or tape allowed.
Music must be recorded at the correct speed. No adjustments will be made at the competition.
Please be sure to clearly label each CD or tape with the studio name, entry number, name of routine, and age division.

All entry forms and full payment must be postmarked 45 days prior to the regional competition for the studio to be eligible for the 7% rebate.

Studios competing 2 years in a row will receive a 10% rebate the second year, providing entries and payment are received by the deadline.
Entries are accepted on a first come basis and are limited to the competition time availability.
Independent entries are welcome.
Please complete a separate entry form for each routine. Be sure that each entry includes the names and birthdates of every performer in the group.
Payment must be in the form of a studio check or cashier's check, payable to .
Entry fees are non-refundable.
Entries received less than 30 days prior to the competition are subject to a 10% late fee and must be paid by cashier's check or money order.
No phone or fax entries.
There will be a $25.00 fee for all checks returned by the bank.
reserves the right to move the competition location, if necessary, because of circumstances beyond our control. Additional competition days may be added, if necessary.
All contestants give permission to use any photographs or videos taken during the competition to promote future events.
No flash photography is permitted during a performance. No personal videotaping will be allowed. Failure to abide by these rules may result in disqualification.
You may include one master release form with parent signatures.
Regional schedules will be available at least one week prior to the competition.
Please provide a fax number so that we can send the schedule to you as soon as possible.
